Connect Kansas Project Aims to Improve Coverage

Improving cell phone coverage is vital for many rural Kansas communities and Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) is asking people across the state to help demonstrate this need. KFB was recently granted a waiver from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to challenge the legitimacy of coverage maps from various major cellular carriers in Kansas.

Although phone carriers say nearly all of Kansas is covered with reliable, fast cell phone coverage, KFB does not believe coverage is adequate. They are asking individuals across the state to participate in the challenge by running a speed test and submitting the data.

KFB started collecting speed test results in June and will continue to accept them through November.
