Kanza Cooperative Association staff and board of directors members attended Legislative Action Day in Topeka on January 22 co-hosted by the Kansas Grain and Feed (KGFA), Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association (KARA) and Kansas Cooperative Council (KCC).

This event was an excellent opportunity for co-op leaders from around the state to come together to learn about legislative issues being considered and connect with lawmakers about issues that impact our co-ops and members.

Kanza representatives hear from Governor Laura Kelly about her proposed budget and key priority areas like the Office of Rural Prosperity.

During the event, Governor Laura Kelly and Attorney General Derek Schmidt addressed the group with updates on current state happenings and KGFA, KARA and KCC provided an update on the legislative policy agenda they will be lobbying for on behalf of their members. Attendees from Kanza were also met several legislators who represent members throughout our trade area including:

  • Senators Bruce Givens
  • Senator Carolyn McGinn
  • Senator Mary Jo Taylor
  • Rep. Kyle Huffman
  • Rep. Jason Probst
  • Rep. Alicia Straub
  • Rep. Jack Thimesch
